You can brighten your summer evenings every Saturday in August with Summer Saturdays at the bosque area of the scenic new Heartwood Park, just south of 144th Street and West Dodge Road in west Omaha.
The public is encouraged to bring family members, friends and even the family pet to enjoy a vibrant night out that will feature food trucks, games, live entertainment and an outdoor movie under the stars.
Each Saturday, the free outdoor movie will begin at sunset – approximately
8:30 to 8:45 p.m. The movie lineup includes:
Kung Fu Panda 4 on Aug. 3
Jurassic Park on Aug. 10
Arthur The King on Aug. 17
The Parent Trap on Aug. 24
Elf on Aug. 31
Leading up to the movie, event goers will enjoy a variety of free activities that begin
at 5 p.m.:
A DJ will play music and host games that include trivia with prizes.
Lawn games, such as Giant Jenga, Giant Chess and Cornhole.
Free kids’ offerings that feature an obstacle bounce course, face painting and balloon animals.
While delicious food and drinks will be available to purchase from food trucks on-site, event goers also can visit nearby Heartwood Preserve restaurants – Charleston’s, Mahogany Prime Steakhouse, Little King Deli & Subs and Starbucks.
Heartwood Park, located at 301 N. 145th St., is nestled within Heartwood Preserve, a 500-acre mixed-use urban development with roughly 80 acres devoted to green space. Summer Saturdays is the first of many community events to occur within Heartwood Preserve.
Free parking will be available to event goers between Canopy and Dewey avenues along 145th Street. Picnic tables and umbrellas will be available for event goers to enjoy. People are encouraged to bring low-back lawn or beach chairs and blankets.
