UScellular Honors Young Artists During Black History Month

STEM icons were showcased through art during UScellular's Black History Month Art Contest with Boys & Girls Clubs across the country.

Boys & Girls Clubs members were encouraged to create original pieces of artwork that represent influential Black STEM icons. These included historical figures, world leaders, scientists and educators who have made vital contributions to the world of science, technology, engineering and math.

Lukas Partners coordinated celebration events last week in Nebraska and Iowa as UScellular revealed the winners of art contests with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands in Omaha, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa in Des Moines, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Corridor in Cedar Rapids and Davenport's Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley.

The winning artists were awarded $250, $150 and $100 gift cards.

Local UScellular and Boys & Girls Clubs leaders selected the 10 finalists based on creativity, quality, interpretation, clarity of theme and overall impression. Public voting for the finalists was available online Feb. 1-15. The finalists’ artwork was digitally displayed at various UScellular locations.
