Recently, the Public Relations Society of America Nebraska chapter presented awards to PR practitioners in our state — congratulations to all of the winners. We are excited to be recognized along with several of our clients in earning 2020 PRSA Paper Anvil Awards, which are listed below. We proudly support and thank PRSA Nebraska for being an excellent steward of the public relations profession.


Below is a recap of our clients’ award-winning projects that we helped execute in 2020.

Creighton University’s 24th Street Transformation Improves Public Safety

In partnership with the City of Omaha and the North Omaha Business Improvement District, Creighton University unveiled the revitalization of its historic 24th Street corridor in the fall of 2020. The transformation modernized the campus, improved public safety and created a gateway to North Omaha. Lukas Partners assisted Creighton in planning and promoting a ribbon cutting event in Omaha to foster a greater sense of community. News coverage of the project resulted in 25 earned news media placements with a potential audience reach of 1 million and publicity value of $485,000.

During the pandemic in 2020, UScellular wanted to give back to several communities by offering free outdoor movies in the evening, called Movie Under the Stars. Communities loved the event, which Lukas Partners helped promote. The program was a blockbuster hit with the media. We garnered 92 print, radio, online, social and TV placements that reached an audience of 5 million people during weekend events in Sioux City, Des Moines and Council Bluffs.


The Future of Good

Cedar Falls, Iowa, 17-year-old Aaliyah Tournier was one of six UScellular The Future of Good winners in 2020. Aaliyah was selected among more than 1,200 nominations from across the country as those who bring fairness to their communities. During six months of The Future of Good coverage, Lukas Partners secured 247 online, print, radio, social and TV placements that reached an audience of nearly 1.1 million.


UScellular Among First to Announce 5G Rollout

In late 2019, UScellular was among the first wireless carriers to announce plans for a 5G network – the future of wireless. The new network rolled out in early 2020 throughout Iowa. Lukas Partners also leveraged UScellular’s annual Business Tech Tour that featured Robert Herjavec of ABC’s “Shark Tank,” who discussed technology and 5G innovation. The 5G launch and Business Tech Tour results surpassed all objectives. We secured 178 radio, online, print, TV and social media placements that reached an audience of 8.8 million from October 2019 to March 2020.

Outlook Nebraska Comes Through in Toilet Paper Shortage

In March 2020, nonprofit Outlook Nebraska, a commercial manufacturer of sanitary paper products made by a blind and visually impaired workforce, made its toilet paper available to the general public for the first time during the start

of the pandemic. Lukas Partners created and distributed a media kit that led to the sale of the entire supply of toilet paper – 40,000 rolls – in less than 24 hours. News outlets in 26 states aired and published 99 total news reports that reached an audience greater than 2.1 million with a publicity value that exceeded $776,000.

NAM’s COVID-19 Pulse Poll Demonstrates a Critical Need for Nonprofit Assistance

Throughout 2020, the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands and Lukas Partners utilized subject-matter expertise to reach Nebraska policy makers, voters and nonprofits through news media placements regarding the impact of COVID-19 on Nebraska nonprofits and the need for CARES funding. Efforts that resulted in statewide news media coverage included 88 news media placements reaching an audience of 1 million and resulting in a publicity value of $560,000.


Burlington Capital Provides Housing for Homeless Veterans

In September 2020, Lukas Partners managed media relations for Burlington Capital’s grand opening of Victory II Apartments, a 60-unit supportive housing community for homeless veterans. Over the course of two days, media tours led by Lukas Partners and the ribbon-cutting event resulted in 24 print, TV and radio earned media placements with an audience reach of 705,527 and publicity value that topped $275,000.
